Project Arts Centre is delighted to launch Wait it Out, a book that relates to the research and preparations made for Sandra Johnston’s solo exhibition with newly commissioned works in Project Arts Centre in 2019. Iterations of the work from this exhibition have recently been added to the collections of The Arts Council Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon and IMMA.
The book departs from an extensive conversation between the artist and curator/editor, Lívia Páldi, and includes additional texts and visual documentation spanning Johnston’s 30-year career. Wait it Out presents a rich trajectory and variety of reflections relating to the exhibition and performance as well as the pre-history that undergirds this work with a special focus on Johnston’s work in Dublin in the 1990s.
For this launch event, we will have an opportunity to speak about the making of the book and its relationship to Johnston’s performance practice, and to speak about the collection of performance and how it impacts on archival practices. We will be joined by special guest Johanne Mullan, Collections Curator at IMMA.
This event will take place online via Zoom.
