About Project Potential
Project Potential is the new home for Access & Engagement work at Project Arts Centre. Words we’ve used in the past to articulate our intention to work in an authentically inclusive way don’t seem to fit any more, so we’re trying something new!
Project Potential is the space for complexity and nuance, a space to hold our intention to work in an authentically inclusive way. We’re committed to making the necessary time and space to create inclusivity through action. We’re asking ourselves who’s not in the room and what do we need to do to change that? We want to create equality of opportunity in practice and, importantly, in action. We’re aiming to ensure that our artists, artistic programme and audiences reflect the contemporary society in which they are situated. It’s a nuanced, potential-full space, to effect meaningful cultural shifts and turn our intentions into a new reality.
We’re beginning from a place of Equality.
We’re committed to Action.
We believe in Potential.
We believe in what we do, but we know that we need to do more to facilitate inclusivity in who gets to make and engage with the work we present at Project Arts Centre.
We’re having serious conversations amongst the team, with the wider Project Membership and with our Board. We’re currently developing our new 5-year strategy and are spending time trying to understand what we do from a multitude of perspectives. We’re having hard conversations, undertaking training, developing audio and visual descriptions and in the early stages of developing our Diversity & Inclusion Policy.
We are committed to finding the time and resources to prioritise inclusivity and to take the action needed to make Project Arts Centre an accessible space for everyone.
We are constantly working to try and improve our facilities to make them as accessible as possible. You can find all the information on our Accessibility here.
