Long interested in ideals of manliness, songwriter Sean Millar found powerful expression in the life stories of older gay Irish men.

Supported by Bealtaine, the nationwide celebration of creativity in older age, Sean began gathering these stories and transforming them to song.

These extraordinary tales of ordinary men led from rural villages to New York City, from Dublin to Soho, Sydney and back.

‘Street casting’ unearthed performers with passion to ignite the heart, while theatre innovators Broken Talkers created settings for each song.

The result is Silver Stars, an innovative song cycle based on stories from older gay Irish men, that tell of honour, exile, spirit, survival and love.
