PROTOTYPE

Prototype - Festivals at Project Arts Centre, Dublin
Prototype is a brand new festival of play and interaction – two days of talks, games, live interactive performances and workshops from some of the most playful designers in the world.

What would it take to make Dublin a more playful city? Join us as we attempt to find out by transforming Project Arts Centre into a massive playground!
Prototype is a brand new festival of play and interaction. This is your chance to experience the world from a new perspective with removable camera eyes, to jostle and joust to a Bach soundtrack whilst trying to disarm an opponent, to throw shapes and win glow sticks as you figure out who got an invite to the silent disco, to duel with foam pool noodles, and to play chase in the dark with flashlights.
A unique festival that incites new types of social interaction, involving people technology and the city, Prototype is a series of performances, workshops, talks, and games that spill across the city, alongside an adult playground in the heart of Temple Bar.
Play is for life, not just for Christmas!
Check out Prototype's own website for more on what to expect at the festival.

PROTOTYPE TALKS | 17 October | 2.00pm – 5.30pm
Talk 1: Permission to Play - What does it take to make an entire city be more playful? What does play on a massive scale look like and what does it take to make it?
Talk 2: Cross Disciplinary Play - Focussing on projects that defy categorisation, we will hear from boundary shifting artists and designers about their playful work and what the notion of prototyping has brought to their practice.
Talk 3: Theatre and Games - As theatre artists increasingly design games and game designers turn to performance to enhance their work, what are the benefits and disadvantages to mixing game and theatre?
