James Earley announced as this year’s commissioned artist for the Bloomsday, Szombathely Mural Project 2026
Back in January 2026 through an open call, artists were invited to submit a mural proposal in response to ‘Sirens’, chapter 11 of James Joyce’s Ulysses. As the selected artist James Earley will travel to Szombathely to install and officially open his work.
James Earley is a Dublin-based artist whose work merges painting, design, and stained glass. His practice produces timeless, conceptually rich narratives through a unique multi-disciplinary lens. This unique practice is rooted in his early years in the Irish graffiti movement and his family’s century-long heritage in stained glass.
Speaking on his commission, James notes that he is “absolutely thrilled to be painting in Szombathely and joining such an esteemed collection of murals in the city where the Bloom family story began.”
We wish James and the team travelling over for the launch the very best of luck. Check back soon for the mural reveal!
