Open Call: SHORT CUTS

Project Potential

Digital Commission and Mentorship Programme | Open Call 2022

DEADLINE 12pm January 14th 2022

Short Cuts is a small scale digital commission and mentorship programme that prioritizes artists who have not yet entered the world of arts applications and funding streams. We want to see the kind of things you’re creating and we want to help you take the next steps.

We are open to all art forms. The work can be anything, as long as it is produced in a digital format. We don’t expect early career artists to have state of the art equipment, so it might be something you shot on your phone, an audio piece, a track, a photo series, a piece of written work or something much more experimental.

We don’t expect you to deliver a finished work at the application stage, but perhaps you’ve had something lingering on your phone that you want to develop or get out there. Perhaps you have an idea for something that you want to work on intensively, or perhaps you have a broad body of work that needs a little direction.

It’s been a tough couple of years, so within the work, we want to start you thinking about a brighter future. What does recovery look like? What kind of thoughts and feelings come up at the start of a new year? How do we gather strength in 2022?

What we are offering

  • A fee of €1500 per selected artist.

This is expected to cover 5 days of your practice and any production costs.

  • Two half days of intensive Mentorship with the Project Potential Coordinator

January kicks off application season. This will be an opportunity to have one to one meetings, to discuss ideas and to get all your grant application ducks in a row!

*Please note, this does not guarantee further funding.

  • The opportunity to show your work to a wider audience.

Selected work will live on the Project Arts Centre website and be disseminated through all our social media platforms.

Who should apply

  • Early career artists who may not have formal training but are interested in accessing artistic supports and funding opportunities

In order to apply please send a copy of your CV or a bio (max 500 words) along with an answer to the following question:
