A rehearsed reading of Traitor a new play by Shane Mac an Bhaird, presented as part of the Rough Magic SEEDS programme.
What happens when the dream comes true, when a radical, charismatic leader from the left is within reach of government? What compromises does she need to negotiate? Set in 2026 and 2016, Traitor looks at the journey from activism to politics.
Shane Mac an Bhaird is the playwright on the Rough Magic SEEDS programme. Shane has an MRes in Playwriting from the University of Birmingham.
As well as writing for stage, Shane has had poetry and short fiction published in Wordlegs: 30 under 30, The Irish Times, The Bastille, The Bohemyth, The South Circular and Ropes. In 2013 he was a prizewinner in Doire Press’s International Poetry Competition.
Rough Magic SEEDS programme is a two-year development programme for emerging theatre artists. Shane has developed his work under the mentorship of Rough Magic Dramaturg Maureen White.
