TINY PLAYS FOR IRELAND
An incredible evening of funny, angry, shocking, tender, satiric, despairing, surreal and hopeful stories from the people of Ireland.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=oMPZ-zXZGck
In Autumn 2011 Fishamble: The New Play Company, in partnership with The Irish Times, launched Tiny Plays for Ireland, commissioning tiny works by some of Ireland's best loved writers and calling for submissions of tiny dramas from the public.
There was an overwhelming response with over 1,700 submissions received, reflecting the creativity and psyche of the nation. The result is an evening of plays by Maeve Binchy, Dermot Bolger, Colum McCann, Rosaleen McDonagh, Sean McLoughlin, Ardal O'Hanlon, Tom Swift, and Michael West presented alongside a selection those submitted by members of the public.
The tiny plays offer a vivid glimpse of contemporary Ireland as seen through a host of perspectives.
The production is accompanied by a programme of debates and discussions, based on the themes and issues explored.
Please note that performances on 28th March 8pm and 31st March 3pm will be assisted. Audio described and captioned performances are facilitated by Arts & Disability Ireland with funding from the Arts Council. More information about assisted performances here.
