Outsider is like being at a party at the moment when you feel youre all by yourself, you break away from the group, but, somehow, still have that party vibe.
A thrilling mix of dance influences: displaying the artistry and virtuosity of four of Irelands best dancers: Philip Connaughton, Liv ODonoghue, Ryan ONeill and Rebecca Reilly and the relationship between music and dance.
Kyle Abraham creates Outsider for John Scotts Irish Modern Dance Theatre. Outsider shares the programme with Kyle Abraham dancing two astonishing sensual and athletic solos
Kyle Abraham Dances Live! The Realist MC (solo excerpt) re-imagines the Walt Disney classic, Pinocchio, in an urban environment. Inspired by the duality of Pinocchio's plight to be a "real boy", Live! Investigates gender roles in the black community and societal perspectives of a character's quest for acceptance in the world of hip hop celebrity.
Kyle Abraham also dances a new solo, using a hybrid of various forms of Contemporary dance and social dance influences: he was heavily involved in rave culture growing up. This dance spans his history making solos, not thinking about what genre he is moving in but finding a nice fluidity and blend when he hits the stage.
Kyle Abraham comes direct from premiering new works for ALVIN AILEY AMERICAN DANCE THEATRE and HARLEM STAGE, New York. One of Americas most outstanding Choreographers and dancers, called "equal parts power and grace" by Dance Magazine, winner of a coveted New Yorks BESSIE dance award and a Princess Grace Dance Award.
John Scott's imdt return to Dublin following sold-out show and tours of Body Duet, Actions, maKe, i mean, and Fall and Recover in New York, Paris, Zagreb, Avignon, Mexico, Kilkenny Arts Festival, ABSOLUT Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Dublin Dance Festival.

Our seating is unreserved so you will choose your seat on the night of the performance. We advise you to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time as we are unable to seat patrons once a performance has begun.
