Post-Show Discussion: 16 January
The Devil’s Spine Band bring their anarchic Wilde West sensibility to Project Arts Centre this January.
Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s lecture tour of America, this ensemble performance will transport you to a surreal desert world, combining the gritty atmosphere of the Wild West with Japanese butoh dance and live music by Trevor Knight and Ed Deane, which incorporates Spaghetti Western, blues and free improvisation, played by a full rock band in a sculptural setting by artist Alice Maher.
The band will be joined by different guests each night, with some more names still to be announced:
Dylan Tighe (singer, performer) - Thursday 15 January
Áine Phillips (performance artist) - Friday 16 January
Eileen O'Toole (singer, accordionist) - Saturday 17 January
The Devil’s Spine Band was created in 2011 to act as a flexible vehicle for an eclectic group of musicians and artists (dance, butoh, visual, film, performance) interested in stretching the boundaries of their various disciplines and combining to create a stimulating new experience for audiences.
