The new album launch from leading Irish musician Seán Mac Erlaine (clarinets, electronics) with Norwegian trailblazers Eivind Aarset (guitars) and live sampling pioneer Jan Bang.
Following the critical acclaim of his first two solo records Seán is working with two of the leading lights in contemporary music, broadening his soundworld and embracing a collaborative approach. Norwegian musicians Eivind Aarset on guitars and effects and live sampling pioneer Jan Bang bring an expansive, detailed palette to this work recorded in Oslo, which also features the stunning vocals of Irish singer Sadhbh Ní Dhalaigh.
Music for Empty Ears is an album that shifts constantly between dark, brooding electronics and light-filled moments, playing with this balance. Mac Erlaine’s individual voice on woodwinds combines seamlessly with his nuanced understanding of live electronics, meeting the signature Norwegian sound world of Bang and Aarset.
Silver Kites is a Dublin-based vocal ensemble that write and perform new and experimental music. Musicians, artists and composers in their own right, the members (Fionnuala Conway, Lenka Dobai and Judith Ring) have considerable experience in composition, performance, music technology and multimedia exhibition, giving this group an eclectic mix of talents and skills with which to create and perform exciting and varied work.
While continuing to develop and perform their own compositions, they collaborate with a number of composers, artists and performers, including Sean Carpio, Michael Gallen. Leo Chadburn, Ulla von Brandenburg, Max Andrzejewski. Performances include: Tardigrade (DFF, 2014), Imagination Dead Imagine (Cerith Wyn Evans, IMMA, 2013), Hutte and Chor (Perspectives 2015, Note Productions), Chorspiel (Gracelands, 2011). Membership of various choirs and ensembles in Ireland, Slovakia, Brazil and Australia including SoundSet, RIAM Choral Society, UCD Choral Society, St. Cecilia Singers, Guinness Choir.

““Creates a space that has knowledge of modern jazz, improvisation techniques, electronica and folk but bows to none.” Nialler9 [break]
“Norwegian Eivind Aarset is in a class of his own proving that lyricism and raw noise aren’t contradictory.” The Guardian [break]
