Poison

Once Off Productions

3 - 6 June 2026

Book Now
The image depicts actors Naoise Dunbar and Rachel O’Byrne looking in different directions. Their heads and torsos are shown, and sit in the dark silhouette of a boy’s head. They are both wearing dark clothing.

When what is unspoken matters as much as what is said, a man and a woman meet again after nine years apart. Reunited by the memory of the child they lost, they are forced to confront grief, love and the possibility of living. Is it possible to move on?

In Poison, acclaimed Dutch playwright Lot Vekemans crafts a powerful, intimate portrait of two people both broken and bound by loss, and by all that remains unspoken between them.

Naoise Dunbar and Rachel O’Byrne star in this Irish premiere of Poison, directed by Lianne O’Shea.

The work of the award-winning playwright Lot Vekemans has been translated into twenty-two languages and performed in more than thirty-five countries, making her the most performed Dutch playwright internationally.

Following its world premiere in Belgium, Poison had its English-language premiere in an acclaimed production at the Beckett Theatre in New York. It was a New York Times’s Critic’s Pick, which Broadway World called ‘truly astounding’.
