Ordnance Survey - Biofeedback Suite LP Launch

Biofeedback Suite is a scientific experiment of sorts. The LP uses EEG information from brainwaves. Many of the tracks on this LP incorporate a Brainwave Synthesizer, which along with the use of an EEG Headset, the spectrum waves bands were used to influence on elements of the modular synthesiser’s filters and envelopes training, this process was used as a compositional tool. Further to this, binaural beats were used to entrain certain mental states which include: Delta: 1-4 Hz: Deep Sleep, Theta: 4-8 Hz: Meditation, Alpha: 8-14 Hz: Relaxation/Focus, Beta: 14-30 Hz: Attention/Cognition, Gamma: 30-100 Hz: Memory/Creativity.
Guest on the LP collaborators include Iarla O Lionard (Vocals) & Colm O Ciosiog (My Bloody Valentine) – Drums. For this show, Ordnance Survey will present the LP using modular synthesizers and analog tape machines with visuals designed by Gavin O’Brien.

Biography
Electronic music producer Neil O ‘Connor has been making electronic music for the past 25 years and has released over 20 albums and EPs. Ordnance Survey is drone and ambient collaborative project and attempts to fuse the worlds of electronica, new music, jazz, improvisation with modular synthesizers and live electronics. Relative Phase (2019) featured collaborations from Sean Mac Erlaine, Linda Buckley, Kate Ellis, John Mc Entire (Tortoise) while Ampere (2020) featured Donal Lunny and Cormac MacDiarmada (Lankum). Field Work (2021) was completed during lockdown and featured field recordings made in and around Dublin and His most recent LP, Nomos: O’Riada Reimagined (2022), is a reworking of O’Riada’s work for electronics and pedal steel. Turas (2023) was recorded at sites of and inside neolithic tombs around Ireland and features contributions from Roger Doyle and Garreth Quinn Redmond.
