One Two One Two LIVE at Project

One Two One Two presents

3 December 2022

Black and White image of two women, Maud (on left) and Zoe (on right) Maud is looking to the right and leaning forward slightly Zoe has glasses on and she is lowering them down her nose and smiling while looking at the camera. They are standing against a plain background Both are wearing outdoor coats
This one-night-only live gig launches the new album Éist Liom (listen to me) by sibling duo One Two One Two.

Controlled, Pristine and Mesmerising: just some of the words used to describe the talent and performances to date by One Two One Two: the music, film and theatre company founded by sisters Zoe Ní Riordáin and Maud Lee.

This one-night-only live gig, their first since 2019, launches their new album Éist Liom (listen to me), filled with bold and ambitious new Irish language songs. Produced by Simon Cullen (SHIPS), Maud and Zoe bring their electronic alt-pop sensibility to an Irish language riff on the story of Carmen from Bizet’s opera. Alongside this new work, they’ll play some favourites from their critically acclaimed theatre productions Everything I Do and Recovery along with some Maud in Cahoots hits.

They will be accompanied on the night by Glasshouse, a ten-piece orchestral ensemble from Dublin, who combine sound, space and visual design to create unforgettable music experiences. Recent projects include the development of a new commission by R.Kitt and collaborative projects with Irish artists Æ MAK, Caoi de Barra, Rachael Lavelle, and Gareth Quinn Redmond.

This promises to be a heartfelt and cathartic night, buoyed by the commanding and fearless style One Two One Two have become synonymous with.

A limited edition of the new album ‘Éist liom’ will be available for purchase on the night.

“Maud Ní Riordáin is a striking, controlled presence with a pristine voice” The Irish Times on The Well Rested Terrorist

“Mesmerising gig theatre” Chris McCormack, Musings at Intermission on Everything I Do

“Glasshouse are among the highest calibre of musicians the nation has to offer.” Nialler9

“If Beyoncé patented the "visual album," then leave it to Irish alt-pop ensemble Maud in Cahoots to pioneer the "live concept album". Le Cool, Dublin

Éist Liom, the album is supported by an Arts Grant from the Arts Council

Controlled, Pristine and Mesmerising: níl ann ach cuid de na focail a úsáideadh chun cur síos a dhéanamh ar thallann agus léirithe One Two One Two: an compántas ceoil, scannán agus amharclainne a bhunaigh na deirfiúracha Zoe Ní Riordáin agus Maud Lee.

Seolann an gig beo aon oíche amháin seo, an chéad cheann acu ó 2019, a n-albam nua Éist Liom, líonta le hamhráin nuachumtha agus uaillmhianacha Gaeilge. Léirithe ag Simon Cullen (SHIPS), tugann Maud agus Zoe a n-íogaireacht alt-pop leictreonach chuig riff Gaeilge ar scéal Carmen ó cheoldráma Bizet. In éineacht leis an saothar nua seo, seinnfidh siad roinnt ceoil is fearr leo óna léiriúcháin amharclainne, Everything I Do agus Recovery a bhfuil cáil mhór orthu, in éineacht le roinnt amas Maud in Cahoots.

Beidh Glasshouse, ensemble ceolfhoirneach deich bpíosa as Baile Átha Cliath, ina dteannta ar an oíche, a chomhcheanglaíonn fuaim, spás agus dearadh amhairc chun eispéiris cheoil dodhearmadta a chruthú. I measc na dtionscadal a rinneadh le déanaí tá coimisiún nua a fhorbairt le R.Kitt agus tionscadail chomhoibríocha le healaíontóirí Éireannacha Æ MAK, Caoi de Barra, Rachael Lavelle, agus Gareth Quinn Redmond.

Is dócha gur oíche chroíúil chathartha a bheidh anseo, á buaileadh ag an stíl cheannasach agus gan eagla a bhfuil baint ag ONE TWO ONE TWO.

Beidh eagrán teoranta den albam nua ‘Éist liom’ ar fáil le ceannach ar an oíche.

90 nóiméad, gan aon briseadh.

“One of the best sets of the weekend (Electric Picnic) was Maud in Cahoots…..It’s been fascinating to watch that band grow, develop and morph into something truly captivating with bags of star quality.” Una Mullally, Irish Times “Undisputedly one of the finest unsigned acts in the country.-Hotpress Magazine ****“Maud Ní Riordáin is a striking, controlled presence with a pristine voice…Maud in Cahoots present a ‘live concept album’… always absorbing; a painstaking work, given startling execution.” Peter Crawley, Irish Times. “If Beyoncé patented the “visual album,” then leave it to Irish alt-pop ensemble Maud in Cahoots to pioneer the “live concept album”.

Supported by an Arts Council of Ireland Arts Grant Project Arts Centre is proudly supported by The Arts Council and Dublin City Council.

One Two One Two is the music, theatre and film company led by Zoe Ní Riordáin and Maud Lee. The new company marks the continuation of Ní Riordáin and Lee’s collaboration, which began with the electro-pop band Maud in Cahoots, acclaimed for its unique melancholy melodies and dramatic alternative pop sound. The band featured regularly at festivals such as SXSW and Other Voices and toured the US, Canada, UK and Ireland from 2009. In 2011 they won the Arthur Guinness Bursary for New Music which saw them record a critically acclaimed EP with the revered record producer Max Heyes, whose credits include Primal Scream, Paul Weller, Oasis and Massive Attack. They were represented by Joe Clarke at CWB management. Their exciting collaborative art is what they describe as low concept, serious pop- they are driven by a need to communicate with strangers through art and live experiences and they use their pop sensibility as a guide. Their projects include highly acclaimed Everything I Do, The Well Rested Terrorist, Recovery (Romilly Walton Masters award), and Everything I Do (Best Performer Fringe awards). Resident Artists at Project Arts Centre. They have toured Ireland, Paris, Edinburgh Fringe 2019. One Two One Two are currently completing an Irish language feature film, Éist Liom (listen to me) supported by the Arts Council and the Abbey Theatre. Their short film Tar Anseo (come here), a co-production with Invisible Thread films, featuring Seána Kerslake and Peter Coonan, will premiere at Cork International Film Festival on November 16th. ///// Glasshouse are a music ensemble in Dublin, Ireland. We present performances of popular contemporary music in singular locations. We produce our own unique concerts, presenting musically exciting albums in their entirety. Our first outing in 2016 was a performance of Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds’ second album …and they have escaped the weight of darkness”. Sparse and subtle, we chose to bring it to life in the expansive space of Dublin’s Pepper Canister Church, accompanied by a minimalist visual design. We were thrilled to have the support of Ólafur Arnalds and the Embassy of Iceland in London for this very special event. In February 2018 we presented our second project, a new arrangement of Sufjan Stevens’ 2005 concept album Illinois, a rip-roaring emotional rollercoaster through the US state. The Sugar Club held a captivated audience for the duration of the album and a selection of our favourite Sufjan tracks. In December 2018, we brought Jóhann Jóhannsson’s Orphée to Dublin’s Unitarian Church. This concert included new work from Irish composers in response to Jóhannsson’s life and work.

There will be english subtitles for Irish language songs Please do not hesitate to contact us at access@projectartscentre.ie or call 01 8819 613. You can find the latest information about Project’s accessibility here.
