Conor O’Clery

Conor O’Clery is an award winning journalist and writer. He worked for The Irish Times for over 30 years in various positions, including news editor and foreign correspondent, based in London, Moscow, Washington, DC, Beijing and New York. His forthcoming book The Star Man, is based on the rebellion of 1798.
The discussion will be chaired by Martina Devlin, author and journalist.

Female Dissenters and Activists: 1798, 1916 and the Present Day

A panel discussion on political dissent. The panel includes recently elected Senator Alice Mary Higgins, historian Jane Maxwell and writer Nell Regan. 
Alice Mary Higgins is a policy and analyst and independent politician. She is the campaigns and policy officer at the National Women's Council of Ireland and a board member of the European Women's Lobby, and was elected to Seanad Éireann in 2016.
Jane Maxwell is Manuscripts curator and PhD candidate in eighteenth-century Irish women’s history at Trinity College, Dublin.
Nell Regan's biography of Helena Molony: A Radical Life is forthcoming from Arlen House this summer. Author of three poetry collections, she has recently been awarded the Patrick and Katherine Kavanagh Fellowship.


There will also be a post-show discussion on Wed 27 Apr following that evening's performance.
This discussion will feature director Lynne Parker and the cast of Northern Star.
Admission to this discussion will be reserved for those with tickets to that evening's performance. Please contact our box office team (01 8819613) if you would like to attend this discussion but you do not have a ticket for that evening's performance.
