My Son My Son

Veronica Dyas

23 - 26 May 2018

My Son My Son Theatre Events at Project Arts Centre Dublin 8
A new play from Veronica Dyas. My Son My Son is the story of a mother, set on Meath Street in the heart of working class Dublin. There’s a lot of drama, that’s not what’s really important but we’ll use it to get at what is. Class, it’s a real thing. Still.

Preview: 23 May
Matinee: 26 May at 2pm
Post Show Discussion: 25 May

THE MOTHER has one son, hence the title. From The Liberties, her best friend, Mary, is married but childless, The MOTHER’s never been married, she’s against it really. This won’t pass the Bechdel Test, that’s deliberate. There’s a lot of drama, that’s not what’s really important but we’ll use it to get at what is. Class, it’s a real thing. Still.
A new play inspired by Bertolt Brecht’s learning play, ‘The Mother’, featuring Lauren Larkin, Amy Conroy, Ericka Roe & Leah Moore. Set on MEATH STREET, we’re telling the story of THE MOTHER. Backwards. In 7 year intervals, ending outside LARKIN’S BUTCHERS*.
*recently sold and redeveloped as a Hickey’s Pharmacy. There’s 3 chemists within 3 minutes walk. That’s in the now, not in the past.
