Wednesday 8 March is International Women’s Day, a day that celebrates women’s social, economic, cultural and political achievements and marks the ongoing struggle for gender parity.
This International Women’s Day Project Arts Centre, along with the Artists’ Campaign to Repeal the Eighth Amendment, will be opening its doors from 3pm to 5pm for anyone who wants to take some time out to reflect on the significance of this day.

About Artists' Campaign to Repeal the Eighth Amendment
The decision to set up the Artists' Campaign to Repeal the Eighth Amendment came from conversations among a group of artists in February 2015 about the consequences of the 8th Amendment.
‘We were frustrated and extremely disappointed that, despite many shocking instances of neglect and mismanagement of women’s care as a result of the Eighth Amendment, there seemed to be a lack of political will to tackle what we saw as an urgent issue. We wanted to act and decided that we should appeal to our fellow working professional artists.
We have been very encouraged by the response of our colleagues, over 3,000 of whom have already attached their names to a statement calling for the repeal of the Amendment. A website has been launched to allow artists working in architecture, dance, film and television, literature, music, theatre and visual artists to add their own names to the list of supporters of the Artists’ Campaign to Repeal the Eighth Amendment. Our aim is to communicate to the public, to the political parties, and in particular to the relevant ministers, that the artists who have attached their names to this statement believe the Amendment has been extremely damaging for women, and must be repealed.’
