Ginga Girando a Gira – Third Edition

Kick off the day with an immersive Capoeira session designed to introduce participants to the foundational movements, rhythms, and rich heritage of this Afro-Brazilian art form. Grounded in a counter-colonial framework, this workshop approaches Capoeira not merely as physical technique, but as a vital practice of resistance, cultural preservation, and embodied storytelling.

Guided by facilitators Alessandra Azeviche, Renan Foca, and Cley Martinez, participants will explore the connection between movement, music, and community history in an open, inclusive environment. No prior experience is necessary, bring an open mind and comfortable clothes to move in.

Oluwatobi invites you to discover multicultural embodiment through the lens of hip-hop dance culture in this immersive 45minutes. Together, we’ll explore the bounce as both a grounding and liberating practice, connecting movement, rhythm, and self-expression.

Through play, reflection, and movement, you’ll be invited to explore different parts of yourself while developing a personal practice rooted in presence, creativity, and authenticity. Drawing on the foundations of hip-hop culture, this workshop honours its core values while encouraging participants to move freely between tradition and contemporary expression.

No dance experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to move.

Participants are invited to bring a piece of fabric, a scrap, a family treasure, an heirloom, and the workshop shall be centred around this piece of fabric.

Quilombo Terra are honored to host the official book launch of Master Nego Bispo’s book, “A Terra Dá, A Terra Quer” (The Earth Gives, The Earth Wants). Following a dedicated period of translating the profound complexities of his counter-colonial philosophy, the group are proud to introduce his literature to an English-speaking audience for the very first time. This launch offers a unique opportunity to engage deeply with his transformative insights and groundbreaking counter-colonial discourse.

ORÍUNDA – Enchanted Crossing is a ritual-performance conceived and performed by Ayana Amorim, exploring memory, ancestry and the journeys of the African diaspora through music, spoken word, performance and stage presence.

The work proposes a symbolic crossing between territories, times and knowledge, inviting the audience to reflect on belonging, identity and the ancestral legacies carried by Black bodies in movement.Inspired by Afro-diasporic cultural research and Ayana’s artistic journey, the performance establishes a sensitive dialogue with the festival theme Ways of Living, bringing together art, memory and spirituality.
