Futureproof

The Everyman, in association with Cork Midsummer Festival and Project Arts Centre, presents

27 June - 01 July 2017

An Award Winning Magical Play About Identity and the Capacities of the Human Spirit.

Book early or pay more on the door!
Tickets will cost €2 more if you book within 2 hours to showtime
Meet the freaks of Riley’s Odditorium: Countess Marketa, an armless bearded lady; Tiny, the world's fattest man; Millie and Lillie, the Siamese twins and Serena the mermaid. This travelling freak show is nearing the end of the road, with fewer and fewer people buying tickets to the show. Futureproof is about their quest to find the answer to the age old question of performance: how to give audiences what they want?
During its award-winning first run in Scotland in 2011, Futureproof asks us to think about the struggle for self-hood and bodily autonomy; a theme which continues to have relevance in Ireland today.
In association with Project Arts Centre, Cork Midsummer and The Everyman, Futureproof reunites writer Lynda Radley and director Tom Creed in a  stunning new production set to premiere in their old stomping ground at Cork Midsummer Festival.

‘There are not enough stars for this utterly draw-you-in drama.’ ★★★★★ Edinburghguide.com
'Endearing, funny, finally sad, this is 90 minutes of rich wisdom about imagination, individuality and comradeship' The Times
'…strikes exactly the right note, namely that strangeness is not otherness.' Financial Times

Written by Lynda Radley
Directed by Tom Creed
Starring Gerard Byrne, Amy Conroy, Michael Glenn Murphy, Gillian McCarthy, Gina Moxley, Julie Sharkey & Ayoola Smart
