Moderated by Seona MacReamonn, dance writer and journalist, the panel discusses what it means to be an Irish dancer.
The panelists, from vastly different backgrounds in Irish dance, share their personal perspectives. Panelists include Joanna Banks - who danced in the Irish National Ballet, Royal Ballet, Bavarian State Ballet, and worked with John Scott and Emma Martin and Dead Centre, Tobi Balogun - a founding member of Human Collective Dance Company. With a background in Street Dance Tobi has won International competitions such as Hip Hop International, SOAR UK. He has worked with Cathy Coughlan, Maria Nilsson Waller, and John Scott, Gearóid Solan - trained at Royal Ballet, dances in Boston Ballet and has danced in Ballet Ireland and Ballet Zürich. Sibéal Davitt’s style of dance is influenced by contemporary, classical, and Irish traditional sean-nós dance, having trained in all styles from an early age. Her latest solo dance show Minseach (she-goat) part of the Dublin Fringe Festival 2021
