Design and Destroy, The Beauty of Ephemerality

Irish Society of Stage and Screen Designers presents

16 - 26 January 2019

Design and Destroy - ISSSD - Theatre and Exhibitions at Project Arts Centre, Dublin
A national exhibit of design for performance, featuring work from some of Ireland’s most prolific and creative designers. This exhibition aims to highlight the dramatic yet ephemeral nature of design for stage and screen in Ireland.

A National Exhibit of Design for Performance

Opening: 16 January, 5.30pm

Featuring work from some of Ireland’s most prolific and creative designers, this exhibition aims to highlight the dramatic yet ephemeral nature of Design for Stage and Screen in Ireland.
The physicality of this discipline exists for a short time and then is no more. The curtain falls, the collaboration ends; all that remains is the memory of the experience in the minds of the spectator.
In seeking to explore this ephemerality, designers respond to the provocation of presenting process alongside outcome. The experience will expose bursts of inspiration; snatches of sound, flashes of colour, rustles of fabric.

An insight into the mind behind the design; ISSSD’s first national exhibit promises to be bold, provocative, fearless.

Exhibitors at Project arts Centre include: John Comiskey (Lighting & Set Designer), Sinéad Cuthbert (Costume Designer), Alan Farquharson (Production Designer), Maree Kearns (Set and Costume Designer), Ana Novacic (Production & Prop Designer), Joan O'Clery (Costume Designer), Francis O’Connor (Set and Costume Designer), Paul O’Mahony (Set Designer), Ciarán Ó’Melia (Set & Lighting Designer), Sarah Jane Shiels (Lighting Designer) and Kevin Smith (Lighting Designer).

The Irish Society of Stage and Screen Designers celebrates the work of designers living and working in Ireland in theatre, television and film production. It is a professional organisation run by designers for designers. ISSSD acts as a hub for information sharing and communication between these professionals in both a national and international forum as the principal representative body of stage and screen designers in Ireland.
