Sharing a mutual admiration for each other’s work, Liz Roche and composer David Coonan have begun a collaboration to create a major new piece for orchestra and dancers in partnership with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
Taking the idea of people gathering together as a starting point, this work-in-development explores how a group can act as a conduit for the personal, in a communal exploration of small, singular details.
The commissioning of original music alongside contemporary dance has long been a core creative element of the Liz Roche Company. Having written work for international ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Coonan’s work offers a striking complement to Roche’s choreography.
