From her humble 1987 beginnings in a night club on Dame Lane in a dark Dublin back-alley on April Fools Day, to her current incarnation as a voluptuous, rowdy spectacle, bursting at the seams at the Olympia Theatre on St Patricks weekend, the highs and lows of the Alternative Miss Ireland are presented in this lecture-style theatre piece from Niall Sweeney.
A moving performance from one of the original founders of AMI charts the hysterical history of the transgressive Queen Cailín with a charitable heart that is now commonly known as Gay Christmas.
