Pathways of the Dance Artist. Moderated by Jacqueline Shea Murphy,  panelists include Seán Curran, Ella Clarke, Oran Leong, Favour Odusola and Magdalena Hylak

What is necessary for dance artists to achieve their potential? The panel discusses different factors: 

  • Conservatoire training vs non Institutional training
  • Performance/Choreographic practice
  • Embodying personal identity in Ireland/Internationally 
  • Presenting your work to the appropriate audience

Moderated by Jacqueline Shea Murphy,Professor, Dept of Dance, University of California Riverside. Panelists: include Seán Curran, New York based Post Modern Dance Choreographer, Director of Seán Curran Company, Arts Professor and Chair of Tisch School of the Arts , New York University,  Ella Clarke, Dance Artist, Choreographer and Movement Director., Oran Leong, Irish dancer. Contemporary dancer. Aerialist, Resident Dance Artist Ballina Arts Centre and Fidget Feet, Favour Odusola, artist, Dancer, Choreographer, teacher, Irish Modern Dance Theatre Associate Artist, co-founder UMAKOKO and Magdalena Hylak, Dance Artist, Performer, Galway Dance Artist in Residence

“Launched in 2019, Scott’s personal crusade to promote Irish choreographers on the global stage began as a labour of love to challenge limiting, confused, and often negative notions about Irish choreography and identity… the festival’s growth over the past three years has been staggering… Scott’s determination has this year’s festival shining a light on some of our finest choreographers, and dance film makers, positioned as part of a global practice and historic tradition, commanding form and space with the very best. [The Festival suggests] “that Irish choreography, like being Irish, like dance itself, and dance on film, is everything you thought it was and everything you thought it wasn’t.
