Chisato Minamimura International Residency – Public Sharing

Europe Beyond Access and Project Arts Centre

6 August 2026

Chisato Minamimura will be leading a residency project at Project Arts Centre in late July and early August. During the residency, Chisato will collaborate with Deaf artist Lianne Quigley, sound artist Brigid Cryan and video artist Neil O’Driscoll to develop a new Deafscape of Dublin focusing on different areas of Dublin.

Together, they will explore how sound can be translated into visual, sensory and embodied experiences, drawing on Deaf perspectives to reimagine how we perceive and connect with place.

The residency will culminate in a public sharing event on Thursday 6th of August from 3pm–5pm.

The public sharing offers audiences an opportunity to experience the outcomes of the residency, learn more about the collaborative process behind the Deafscape of Dublin and Chisato and her practice.

ISL will be provided.

Group Group More about Chisato Minamimura

Chisato Minamimura is a Deaf performance artist, visual artist and British Sign Language art guide. Born in Japan and now based in London, Minamimura has created, performed and taught internationally. Minamimura trained at Trinity Laban in London and holds a BA in Japanese Painting and an MA from Yokohama National University.

Minamimura approaches choreography and performance-making from her unique perspective as a Deaf artist, experimenting with and exploring the visualisation of sound and music. By using dance and technology, Minamimura aims to share her experiences of sensory perception and human encounters.

She is currently touring Scored in Silence, and her new work Mark of a Woman.

Earlier this year, Chisato presented Mark of A Woman at Project Arts Centre as part of Disrupt Disability Arts Festival, an acclaimed performance exploring women’s personal histories and tattooing cultures through Visual Vernacular, digital animation, kinetic projection and haptic technology.

This residency is supported by Project Arts Centre through Europe Beyond Access, co-funded by the European Union. Further information on the structure of the sharing will be announced soon.
