Rebels on Pointe is the untold story of the world-famous Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. The all-male comic ballet company was founded in the 1970s on the heels of New York’s Stonewall riots and has a diverse cult following around the world.
The film juxtaposes behind-the-scenes access, rich archives and history with intimate character-driven stories. The performances are hilarious, but the dancing is no joke. As Gia Kourlas, a dance critic for The New York Times points out, it takes exceptionally strong technique to merge classical choreography and comedy.
