Project Arts Centre presents
Join us for a panel on trans futures in Ireland, speaking to the challenges we face, what action is needed and what conversations we need to hold as a community, including on healthcare, rights and coalition-building. Contributing to this conversation will be Adeline Berry, Matt Kennedy, Ollie Bell and Renn Miano, moderated by curator and writer Iarlaith Ni Fheorais.
In response to Danielle Braithwaithe Shirley’s world-building vision for her exhibition, I NEED YOUR HELP / TÁ DO CHÚNAMH AG TEASTÁIL UAIM, which asks for our active presence in crafting our collective futures; who do we need and who needs us?
At a critical juncture in trans history, this panel will reflect on our history, and what we need to do to move forward in alliance with others.
This event takes place in person and online. The event will include ISL interpretation and AI captioning for Zoom participants.

Biographies
Adeline Berry (she/her/they/them) is a transgender and Intersex MSCA research fellow at the University of Huddersfield researching the experiences and needs of older intersex people in Europe as part of the INIA research network. A former sex worker, they are a member of SWRH and ISWRN and a co-author of How sex workers understand their experiences of working in the Republic of Ireland and “I must be some person,” accounts of street sex workers in Ireland. They have spoken at conferences in Stockholm, London, Limerick, Cork and Dublin on the intersection of gender, sex work and the law.
Iarlaith Ni Fheorais is a writer and curator based between London and Ireland.
Matt Kennedy (he/him) is an Irish Research Council Scholar and doctoral candidate in the area of trans studies in the School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice at University College Dublin, a writer and a boxer. He is currently employed in Belong To, Ireland’s National LGBTQ+ youth organisation as the policy and research officer as well as completing his PhD on transnormativity. His research areas and interests include trans studies, queer studies, autoethnography, disciplinarity, abolition, feminist theory, gender studies, archival studies, youth studies, sport and masculinities. His writing can be found in The Bulletin of Applied Transgender Studies, Irish University Review and Fruit Journal.
Ollie Bell (they/them) is a non-binary trans activist, socialist feminist and poet. They’re the founder of Trans & Intersex Pride Dublin which had its third march this year. They’re also a fighter for LGBTQ+ liberation, workers rights and ending gender based violence.
Renn Miano (they/them) is an artist – and DJ’s with co-op music label DIAxDEM & founder of Origins Eile.
Origins Eile or sometimes shortned to (OE) is a Black Queer org/collective. With an emphasis on It celebration of QTIBPOC here on land, Eile is Irish for “other” btw!
OE is dedicated to creating space/s, towards impactful new ecologies & specifically artistic & holistic responses to planetary life.
As a group, OE’s community focus is ever expanding and shifting depending on the need/response asked of us all – club nights, discussions, workshops, gallery tours, fundraisers, dinners, sexual awareness, manifestos.
