Consisting of two main parts, ‘Wait it Out’ negotiates personal and historical narratives in relation to the reverberation of sectarian violence in Northern Ireland. The work reflects upon the indeterminate early days of the peace process and the climate of unease which motivated Johnston to relocate to Dublin in 1997.

Presented as part of Active Archive – Slow Institution: The Long Goodbye the gallery will play host to a special screening event of two projects that were commissioned by Project Arts Centre as part of the Off Site visual arts programme (1998-1999). Sandra Johnston and Ronan McCrea will present visual materials about their work projects and will be joined in conversation by writer and curator Valerie Connor who worked with the artists on their projects.

January’s tour will begin at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios with Otobong Nkanga’s first solo exhibiion in Ireland, The Breath From Fertile Grounds. Visitors will be guided to the next venue, the Gallery of Photography for the exhibition of Krass Clement‘s work entitled The Light Gleams an Instant.
