Project was very proud to present the first Irish exhibition of the seminal Canadian artist's group General Idea (1968 - 1995) in January 2006. Established by AA Bronson, Felix Partz and Jorge Zontal, for almost thirty years this group worked with wit, theoretical sophistication and formal flair to critique and challenge the norms of both high and low culture - earning them a place within the cannon of the late 20th Century avant-garde.

ARTCIRQ

An installation and workshop at Project will take as its starting point the documentary film 'Artcirq' by Isuma Productions. Artcirq follows a project initiated by Guillaume Saladin, a circus student from Montreal, that took place in Igloolik a remote Inuit settlement of 1200 people off the North West Coast of Baffin Island in the Canadian arctic.

THE ALIEN

For three nights only in September, the visual arts programme at Project presented The Alien by Matti Braun, a production that combined visual art and theatre disciplines in the staging of a version of the unrealised screenplay by Indian film director Satyajit Ray.

HOME AND THE WORLD

Home and the World is a programme of Indian film, which where screened throughout the second half of August at Project. Selected by Indian curator Suman Gopinath and Project's then curator Grant Watson, this programme presents India through the moving image as a cosmopolitan society and a meeting point for different cultures in both historical and contemporary terms.

HERE COMES EVERYBODY

For three weeks during July Project Arts Centre organised a series of complementary events around its exhibitions programme. The gallery hosted a performance, a public talk, and a musical act that all took place round a shifting arrangement of paintings.

LA LA LAND

Project commissioned Paul O'Neill to curate the exhibition 'La La Land' which brought together a range of international contemporary practice. La La Land was an exhibition without a theme, a show about being out of it, beyond the exhibition as a unifying structure.
