WITHOUT YOU I AM NOTHING – Martin Sharry
A multi-layered work including a film, essay and live performance
Written and Performed by Martin Sharry
A film where someone is followed making a full circuit of an island off the west coast of Ireland.
One of his important texts is called Holzwege, which means a path which leads nowhere. To leave things open and radically inappropriable and then admitting that we haven’t really understood is much less satisfying, more frustrating and more necessary you know. – Avital Ronnell on Martin Heidegger
An essay in pursuit of a subject, conscious of it being a text for performance as well as a stand alone piece of writing. It’s dynamic or drama generated from an awareness of that duality. Designed to avail of the context of the situation before making any argument for its existence.
A performer trying to be present.
These three elements constitute an event that is alive to the context of the situation.
THE AUDITION – Vaari Claffey
For ‘The Audition’, Thoughtless, a sculptural work by Isabel Nolan, is trying for a part in a film.
The audition takes place in a theatre space, with two actors, a man and a woman, who read sections from a variety of well-known scripts, at the centre of which is an object, prop or substance.
Thoughtless plays the part of the object in the script – could it play Kryptonite ? Zuzu’s petals ? The Maltese Falcon ?
The performance tests the specificity and replaceability of objects within scripts and tests whether an object can act, and, assuming it can, can it shake off the meanings it has gathered along the way.

Exactly 20 years ago the new purpose-built premises of Project Arts Centre reopened amidst huge expectations and speculations on its capacities to live up to its artist-led ethos and continue its creative path dedicated to experimentation and radical practices. There were sceptics and critical voices addressing both the context of the development of the Temple Bar Cultural Quarter and spectacle-oriented, consumer-driven cultural production which some feared Project’s subversive spirit might fall prey to after its refurbishment. An anniversary at most times is an important opportunity to reflect, especially during such transformative moments as those we are living through right now.…Read More

Hi there, How are you doing today? We hope you and your family are staying safe and sane during these strange days. We've been thinking about how we stay connected. It's not easy. Some of us have to stay indoors all the time. Others mostly all of the time. We've had letters and postcards through our letterboxes that made us smile. We've got emotional sending messages of support and solidarity to others. Some of us have wifi, Social Media and laptops. Some of us don't. So, we're starting LOCKDOWN LETTERS. To try to stay connected to as many of our…Read More
