WE DON’T CARE WHEN
There’s a bit in Desperate Housewives when Felicity Huffman’s character Lynette has cancer. There’s a possum in her garden that she was trying to kill. When the doctor tells her she doesn’t have cancer anymore she goes out to look at the stars and finds it dead.
My mum would tell me much later that that had really affected her.
It’s been five years since my mum had cancer.
I’m going to make a play about it. I’m going to claim it.
It’s about keyhole surgeries, medicines, hand-holding, fear, chips, work, exams, Vienna, tennis balls, fake blood, real blood, a teddy called Eddy, a teddy called Teddy, hot showers, cooked hops, spotlights, theatres and homemade pizza.
Is that too confusing?
Let me start over.
My mum wrote a letter when she went into hospital.
I lost it.
Then I made some plays that weren’t about that (but really they were.)
This show is about that.

Seating
Our seating is unreserved so you will choose your seat on the night of the performance. We advise you to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time as we are unable to seat patrons once a performance has begun.
