Building on its exceptional success in 2005, Rough Magic’s latest programme will include a bold new production of a world classic, THE TAMING OF THE SHREW by William Shakespeare.
The Company’s first major production in 2006 will take a fresh look at Shakespeare’s most sparkling and controversial comedy. Re-imagining this infamous tale in wheeler-dealer rural Ireland, Rough Magic’s Shrew will be a contemporary take on a play that hinges on fraudulence, farce and bad behaviour.
With an A-list ensemble including Pauline McLynn and Owen Roe as the sparring protagonists, The Taming of the Shrew will feature live tango, loose morals and gombeen chic.
Book now for a show that will prove once again – women are from Venus – men are from Mullingar! Directed by Lynne Parker
Set and costume design: Monica Frawley. Lighting design: Rupert Murray
Original music: Cathal Synnott
