THE GODS ARE NOT TO BLAME

Tickets: 12

By Ola Rotimi
Directed by Bisi Adigun and Jimmy Fay
This is a skillful transposition of the theme of Sophocle’s Oedipus Rex to African soil. “King Odewale’s progress towards knowledge of the murder and incest that must be expiated before his kingdom can be restored to health is unfolded with a dramatic intensity heightened by the richness of the play’s Nigerian setting”.
This production (the first of its kind in the history of Irish theatre) is enriched by employing all the elements of African performing arts, namely mime, music, song and dance. All 25 of the performers are of African descent living in Ireland.
