Touching, funny and deeply evocative, this fascinating piece of documentary dance-theatre celebrates the beautiful, bleak and mysterious Fens region in the east of England, its people and its traditions.
A poetic look at the universal stories of rural communities that are fading from view, the show features recordings of people who live and work on the Fens interviewed by Dan Canham over the last two years – from young farmers to horse-breeders to eel catchers. Dan and his team fuse movement and sound-design with the words and memories of their native collaborators. Gentle, stark and life-affirming.

Exactly 20 years ago the new purpose-built premises of Project Arts Centre reopened amidst huge expectations and speculations on its capacities to live up to its artist-led ethos and continue its creative path dedicated to experimentation and radical practices. There were sceptics and critical voices addressing both the context of the development of the Temple Bar Cultural Quarter and spectacle-oriented, consumer-driven cultural production which some feared Project’s subversive spirit might fall prey to after its refurbishment.
