KARAOKE(ART)

Show Time: 10pm

Free event – no booking required!

A karaoke night like never before…
Karaoke(ART) is Random Scream’s gesture to create a unique event from the collision of contemporary art and the karaoke phenomenon.
Random Scream has invited 25 internationally acclaimed artists to create their own video for a popular karaoke song.
Each artist was given a selection of songs to choose from and asked to use their own personal style to reflect on what it’s like to live in the world today using the song as their conduit.
The artists were free to create whatever video they desired as long as it embedded the karaoke music and words.
The only performers this evening will be you, the audience – choosing a song to sing is the only way activate the artwork.
Enjoy!
Age suitability 18+. Contains sexually explicit material

Random Scream
Davis Freeman created the company Random Scream in 1999 to expose the eclectic elements of everyday culture with proposed lines of flight for dance, theatre, and visual arts. Originally created with the artist Lilia Mestre, Random Scream is now run by Freeman and his ever evolving mix of collaborators. The projects aim to draw attention to what is already there by focusing on our personal interactions and how our choices directly affect each other and the community we live in.
Freeman is an American performing artist based in Brussels and has worked with Forced Entertainment, Meg Stuart and Superamas. With his company Random Scream he continues to explore the multiple sides of his artistic personality. From docu-performances and durational music, theatre and dance pieces to lounge acts and installations.

Karaoke(ART) is presented as part of One Time Season, a celebration of contemporary theatre featuring works by Pan Pan and the greatest hits of American/Belgian group Random Scream.
One Time Season is presented as part of Project 50, a season of work celebrating 50 years of Project Arts Centre.
