Dark Star is a dynamic, new group bringing together five young yet experienced talents of Irish music to play original compositions evoking the darker sides of contemporary Jazz. The musical intent is to combine formal, tight structures with intense and passionate improvisation. This musical philosophy is rooted in the work of Tim Berne, Marty Ehrlich, Julius Hemphill, John Zorn and Hamiet Bluiett.
