Dora works a dead end job in a New England seaside town. Her ex, Ed, owes $10,000 to the wrong people and, despite everything, she finds herself dragged into his desperate plan to escape them and begin a new life. Ed’s brother, Ty, has cut himself off from family and friends and buried himself in a private world of work.
On a beach at night, the regrets of the past, confusions of the present and possibilities of the future must be faced. A tender and haunting play about identity, love and guilt from one of America’s hottest young playwrights. ‘A piece that tackles big themes – the nature of truth and love – with a deceptively light touch… Shinn creates a sense of loss and lost opportunities that is deeply affecting.’ Daily Telegraph ‘The secret of Shinn’s success is in the way he expoits the dramatic gap between what is said and that which is left unsaid… writing like this is rare’ The Independent Making Strange Theatre Company gratefully acknowledges the support of the Arts Council and Dublin City Council.
