Fresh out of prison, macho Latino patriarch, Enrique comes home to the Bronx to find his world and his family turned upside down. Unbeknownst to him, while he was inside, his son, Michael started transitioning from boy to girl. Michael, now Vanessa, has initiated hormone treatment, and is dealing with the harsh reality of being trans on the tough streets of the Bronx. Vanessa’s mother, Angela, is supportive, she knows the tough realities of life and just wants her child to be happy, but tensions flare as Enrique moves back in and starts to assert his authority.
The performances in this hugely satisfying film are incendiary, with newcomer Harmony Santana bringing incredibly maturity to her portrayal of the young Vanessa as she deals, not only with her unaccepting Dad, but with a super-hot boyfriend who won’t be seen with her in public. Driven by a pounding hip-hop soundtrack and in many ways reminiscent of that other great NYC Oscar winner, Precious, this debut feature from Rashaad Ernesto Green was this month given the coveted honour of opening Outfest in LA, the biggest LGBT film festival in the world. See it and you’ll understand why.

Our seating is unreserved so you will choose your seat on the night of the performance. We advise you to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time as we are unable to seat patrons once a performance has begun.
