ELECTRA ET CETERA

Tickets: 12

An alternative, energetic take on Sophocles’ classic tale of revenge and despair. Electra is trapped in the world of an underground, seedy cabaret club. It is run by her often drunk, ageing, has-been mother, clytemnestra and aegistus, the flamboyant, leery owner of the establishment. The chorus of showgirls, ‘the divas’, are electras main confidants, while she waits desperately for the return of her heroic brother, orestes, to avenge their murdered father.

This adaptation has been devised by the Gaiety School Of Acting Youth Theatre Company, a group of young performers who have been working as an ensemble for the past year. The result of this being an upbeat, lively, theatrical show. Think paris! Think cabaret! Think spectacular!
