12 POINTS – HANNA PAULSBERG CONCEPT, NIKOLAS ANADOLIS & KOENIGLEOPOLD

The next edition of this small but beautifully formed festival takes place in Dublin, 13 – 16 February 2013, when twelve bands will perform over four nights, selected from hundreds of online submissions.

12 Points Festival alternates between Dublin and partner cities (Porto in Portugal was the location for the 2012 edition). With its compact size, it’s a unique opportunity for artists to get to know each other, create lasting friendships and networks, and give their absolute performance best before an enthusiastic local audience, media and industry professionals.

There is no better festival to experience the breadth, energy, ambition and diversity through which young European musicians are making the jazz of tomorrow.

Friday 14 February

Hanna Paulsberg Concept (Trondheim)
The combination of tenor saxophonist Hanna Paulsberg’s strong, melodic compositions and ensemble interaction create great improvisational freedom. The compositions are deeply rooted in the African American jazz tradition, but with a young Norwegian twist making for fresh and unique expression.

“The mature, melodic streak running through their material was executed with exemplary style.” -London Jazz

Nikolas Anadolis (Thessaloniki)

This young solo pianist shows an exceptional grasp of piano aesthetics and formidable prowess across all registers of the keyboard, with short form, lucid improvisations that owe as much to Ligeti as they do to Tristano.

”An assured and dynamic performance.” -TheJazzman.com

koenigleopold (Vienna)

Hailing from Vienna, this intrepid drums and synth duo are joint proprieters of some deeply skewed musical theatre on a recessionary budget, shoddily constructed from the discarded remnants of the last fifty years of beat music.

“Never before have I heard such a symbiosis of avant-garde and disco.”- Der Bund
